UNCLE SIGH silk-wounded-warriors-stables

Sire: Indian Charlie

Dam: Cradlesong (by Pine Bluff)

Owners: Wounded Warrior Stables and Anthony Robertson

Trainer: Gary Contessa

ML: 30-1

Uncle Sigh lost a pair of photo finishes to Samraat in the Withers and Gotham before finishing fifth in the Wood Memorial. However, that race may be better than it looks on paper, as the colt missed the break and suffered from a wide trip. Irad Ortiz, Jr., will get his first Derby mount aboard Uncle Sigh, and he and his brother Jose (on Samraat) are the first group of brothers to contest the same Derby since the Maples (Eddie and Sam) in 1984.

Contessa: Uncle Sigh "Is In Irad Ortiz's Hands"

Trainer Gary Contessa discusses the ideal trip for Uncle Sigh, one that may largely be up to jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr., who will contest his first Kentucky Derby Saturday.
