Peter Lurie is one of four on-air personalities that has been with HRTV since the network's inception in 2002, and during his long association has served in a wide-variety of roles. He currently serves as co-host of HRTV's daily "Race Day America" show, as well as the weekly show, "Across The Board", and Saturday's & Sunday's "At The Half" segment. He periodically fills in on two more weekly shows, "Against the Odds" and "The Edge".
His extensive on-air work for the network has taken the engaging Lurie to a number of sites for HRTV, including: the Preakness for two consecutive years, 2006-07, the Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park, the Indiana Derby (Hoosier Park), Stephen Foster Day (Churchill Downs), Louisiana Premier Night (Delta Downs), Maryland Million Day (Laurel Park), Louisiana Derby (Fair Grounds), and Calder's "Summit of Speed".
The diverse, multi-talented Lurie is not only a host/analyst/reporter, but also lends his voice to the stations promos and narrates HRTV's award-winning documentary show, "Inside Information". Lurie credits a trip to the track with his father, at age four, as the beginning point of his love affair with the sport. His heroes were legendary jockey, Bill Shoemaker, and two great horses, Ack Ack and Secretariat. He remains a breeder and owner, and races with his ownership partners under the Black Diamond Racing LLC moniker.
When he's not at the racetrack, Lurie is also a veteran actor of over 30 years, lending his voice to campaigns for Dairy Queen, Bud Lite, McDonald's, Shell Oil, and the E! Channel. You might also recognize his "voices" in numerous animated shows and video games. Lurie also spends his vacations from HRTV as the Inter-track host for Fairplex Park meeting, and has said the only other thing he would love to accomplish would be to call a race.
A native of Southern California, Lurie is a die-hard Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Jets fan, and resides in Studio City.
