A native of Bartlett, Illinois, Scott Hazelton was bred to work in racing.
His father, esteemed trainer Richard Hazelton, a fixture on the Chicago racing circuit for the past 50 years, is the leading all-time trainer at Arlington Park. His sister, Christine, rose through the racing ranks to serve as assistant racing secretary at both Del Mar and Fairplex.
After taking extensive broadcasting courses at both the University of Illinois and Arizona State University, Scott joined HRTV in 2004 as a producer/reporter for feature segments. Over the years, he has developed into a key member of HRTV's announcing stable, and currently serves as the co-host (along with Carolyn Conley) of the network's "RaceDay America" show.
Additionally, he has enjoyed a number of great racing travel destinations, on HRTV's behlaf, in 2007-08. He has been to Monmouth Park for the Breeders' Cup, the Arab Emirates for the Dubai World Cup, the Kentucky Derby, and the Belmont Stakes, chronicling Big Brown's Triple Crown quest, substantially contributing to HRTV's coverage.
In August, 2008, he was tabbed to do onsite work at Arlington for the network's coverage of the fabled Arlington Million.
