HRTV OFFERS IN-DEPTH, ON-SITE COVERAGE OF MAJOR RACING WEEKEND -- FLORIDA DERBY, LOUISIANA DERBY & DUBAI WORLD CUP NIGHT
Arcadia, CA, March 27 -- HRTV (R), the Network for Horse Sports, will provide racing fans a tremendous weekend of racing action, with an on-site presence at two key sites for Kentucky Derby preps on Saturday -- the Grade 1, $1 million Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park and the Grade 2, $1 million Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds
The network's tandem of Richard Migliore and Zoe Cadman will be trackside in South Florida, offering analysis and insights for the track's headline event, while HRTV's Peter Lurie and Daily Racing Form's national correspondent Jay Privman will be in New Orleans for a momentous event, the 100th anniversary of the prestigious Louisiana Derby.
The Florida Derby is annually a major Derby steppingstone, and this year's renewal is expected to feature last year's Juvenile champion, Shanghai Bobby, along with highly-regarded, Itsmyluckyday, and Orb. The powerhouse Florida Derby Day card also sports five additional graded stakes events, including the $300,000 Gulfstream Oaks.
The Louisiana Derby attracts a top field each year, and this year's centennial edition will likely follow that script, with Revolutionary, Code West and Palace Malice anticipated as probable starters.
The Derby undercard is chock full of stakes races to supplement the big racing day with a trio of Grade 2 races -- the Fair Grounds Oaks, New Orleans Handicap, and the Mervin Muniz.
