The weekend is chock full of stakes races to supplement the Louisiana Derby and Fair Grounds Oaks, topped by the (Grade 2) Mervin Muniz Memorial Handicap and the (Grade 2) New Orleans Handicap on Sunday's racing bill.
HRTV's Peter Lurie and Daily Racing Form's Jay Privman will be stationed in South Florida, reporting on the Florida Derby, annually a major Derby steppingstone, which is expected to feature top Derby contenders -- Union Rags and El Padrino. The Florida Derby Day card also sports five additional graded stakes events, including the $300,000 Gulfstream Oaks.
