HRTV ON-SITE FOR GULFSTREAM'S OPENING DAY, FEATURING $850K CLAIMING CROWN, THIS SATURDAY, DEC. 1
Hallandale, FL, Nov. 28 -- HRTV (R), The Network for Horse Sports, will be
on-site for Opening Day at Gulfstream Park this Saturday, Dec. 1, as one of
racing's premier meetings kicks off a big season by hosting the annual $850,000
Claiming Crown.
HRTV's Carolyn Conley and veteran horseracing TV personality, Caton Bredar, and
will be on-hand for HRTV to report on all the day's action as the Hallandale
track raises the curtain on its 90-day season with the Claiming Crown as the
primary attraction.
First post is set for 12:45 p.m. ET.
The 14th edition of the Claiming Crown, which was co-founded by the Thoroughbred
Owners and Breeders’ Association and the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective
Association, has been hosted by four other tracks -- Canterbury Downs, Parx,
Ellis Park and Fair Grounds -- since 1999.
The Claiming Crown encompasses seven highly-competitive races, featuring the top
claiming horses in the country, and adds even more spice to Gulfstream's
anticipated Opening Day. All seven races include six-figure purses with the
$200,000 Jewel Stakes, at 1 1/8 miles on the dirt, the centerpiece event.
HRTV will again present complete coverage of the Gulfstream meeting, which
continues through April 5 and is conducted on primarily a Wednesday through
Sunday schedule. Sixty-one graded stakes races are scheduled.
