Baltimore, MD, July 12 -- The inaugural Totally Thoroughbred Horse Show, hosted by the Maryland Jockey Club and Adena Springs, will take place this Saturday, July 14 on Pimlico's infield, and HRTV (R), The Network for Horse Sports, will present a live streaming webcast of the event via www.hrtv.com.

HRTV's Carolyn Conley will be on-site to anchor the network's online coverage, which will be available free to viewers at HRTV.com beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday.  (In the event of rain, the event, and webcast, will be postponed until the following day, July 15, at the same time.)

Informally referred to as “Racing Meets English,” the unique Horse Show will feature former Thoroughbred racehorses demonstrating their successful retraining in English horse sports competitions.  To date, 183 retrained Thoroughbreds have been entered and registration remains open.

“HRTV is delighted to produce and air programming that demonstrates the availability of opportunities for Thoroughbreds once their on-track careers conclude,” said Scott Daruty, President of HRTV.  “It remains our goal to provide the 'horse sports' community with special programming and this event piques the interest of two major disciplines -- Racing and English.”

Footage from this event will be used for an upcoming episode of HRTV’s Emmy award-winning series, Inside Information.  This show, covering the lives of the competing Thoroughbreds, will air on HRTV and HRTV.com beginning in early August.

The www.hrtv.com
webcast of the Horse Show further expands the network's scope of adding quality programming to its live streaming capabilities.  HRTV has offered live webcasts of two prominent equestrian events earlier this year, and produced unique online coverage from the venues of all three Triple Crown Thoroughbred races this Spring.

The Totally Thoroughbred Horse Show is the brainchild of Maryland Jockey Club Racing Secretary Georganne Hale, and Stacie Clark-Rogers, manager of the Adena Springs Retirement program in Canada. Each horse will show under its Jockey Club name. The traditional show horse has his name changed often when changing owners or circuits.

There will be eight different classes during the day, with six ribbons awarded for each class and more than $4,000 in prize money.

The money made through entries into the eight classes will be earmarked for horse rescue charities that have helped the Maryland Jockey Club find homes for horses that raced in Maryland, including: Kim Clark’s Thoroughbred Placement Resources, Mid-Atlantic and Angel Acres.
