HRTV'S "PURSUIT OF THE CROWN" TRIO OFFERS ON-SITE KENTUCKY DERBY COVERAGE FROM CHURCHILL DOWNS, BEGINNING ON OPENING DAY, APRIL 26
Arcadia, CA, April 24, 2014 -- HRTV (R), The Network for Horse Sports, will make its annual excursion to Churchill Downs to provide racing fans with on-site coverage leading into the 140th renewal of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3, beginning with Opening Day, this Saturday, April 26.
(HRTV will present live coverage of the entire Churchill Downs Spring meeting, which continues through June 29 on primarily a Thursday through Sunday schedule, with exceptions of April 29-30 on Derby week, and Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.)
The network's on-site presence for the "Run for the Roses" will feature in-depth coverage/reporting by HRTV's "Fasig-Tipton Pursuit of the Crown, presented by Twinspires.com" show, on a daily basis, commencing at Noon ET on Opening Day, which will again feature a special 6 p.m. ET post time.
The show will air daily at Noon ET through Thursday, May 1, and then commence at 9:30 a.m. ET on both Oaks and Derby days.
A trio from the "Pursuit of the Crown" crew -- Scott Hazelton, joined by former top jockey Richard Migliore and Caton Bredar -- will contribute heavily from beneath the Twin Spires. The team coverage will provide the latest on key workouts, offer timely interviews with prominent individuals and dispense any breaking news items. The "Pursuit of the Crown" show has offered an in-depth look at the Triple Crown's leading contenders, and key prep races, each week throughout the winter and spring.
A host of HRTV shows from the network's home base in California will bolster the network's thorough coverage of the sport's signature race.
"Westrock Coffee First Call" will devote three shows to the big Oaks and Derby weekend. Co-hosted by Aaron Vercruysse and Jeff Siegel, and joined by Zoe Cadman, the show will add a Friday edition, highlighting the Oaks Day card. That special show, in addition to its customary Saturday (Derby Day) and Sunday airings, will begin at 11 a.m. ET.
A 30-minute show, "The Edge," will air on Friday, May 2 at 9 p.m and offer fans a complete analysis of the field. Thursday’s installment of "Against the Odds" will be one-hour (8:30 p.m. ET) to cover all of the races from Churchill Downs on Friday and Saturday.
