HORSERACING TV SET FOR COMPLETE COVERAGE OF UPCOMING SANTA ANITA MEETING
Arcadia, CA, Dec. 17 -- Picturesque Santa Anita Park's winter/spring race meeting is annually one of racing's most anticipated sessions and HorseRacing TV (TM) (HRTV) will once again present comprehensive, live coverage of the entire meeting when the Arcadia facility kicks off the 84-day stand with its traditional December 26 Opening Day.
Santa Anita's first post on Opening Day is Noon PT/3 p.m. ET, and it will conduct five-day race weeks (primarily Wednesday-Sunday, with several exceptions) through closing day, Saturday, April 19. Regular post times are 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET for weekdays, while weekend cards commence at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET.
HRTV's impressive group of hosts and analysts will bring racing fans complete, in-depth coverage of each racing day. A daily onsite presence will include up-to-date racing information, expert analysis and handicapping strategies, as well as paddock interviews with key participants and full post parades.
In addition, HRTV's daily "RaceDay America" show will provide viewers with more pertinent information of each Santa Anita card, as well as other major racing venues across the country.
"Santa Anita's Opening Day has always been the start of the new racing season for racing fans and horseplayers alike, and we're fortunate to have our main studios directly opposite Santa Anita's eighth pole," said Amy J. Zimmerman, executive producer for HRTV. "It also begins an excellent part of the racing season for HRTV, with Aqueduct, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn, Laurel Park, Golden Gate, and Tampa Bay all on our racing calendar in the months ahead."
The Santa Anita meeting always offers a tremendous stakes schedule, and this year is no different with a bountiful 75 stakes races set -- with 10 slated as Grade 1 events. The Grade 1 $250,000 Malibu Stakes, a staple as the Opening Day feature, gets the meeting off to a rousing start. The track's two other signature races -- the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap and the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby, a key Kentucky Derby prep -- are scheduled for March 7 and April 4, respectively.
HRTV's Santa Anita announcing line-up throughout the meeting includes: Laffit Pincay, III, Gary Stevens, Jeff Siegel, Jon White, Kurt Hoover, Scott Hazelton, Carolyn Conley, Peter Lurie, Millie Ball, Joanne Jones, Aaron Vercruysse, and Becky Witzman.
