TECHNICAL ALERT FOR AFFILIATES THAT RECEIVE HRTV SIGNAL DIRECTLY FROM GALAXY 17 THROUGH ROBERTS COMMUNICATIONS (RCN)
FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION
September 15, 2011
Affiliates that receive HRTV signal directly currently have Galaxy 17 C-band horizontal polarity going into RF port 4 on the Wegener receiver that was provided at launch.
By September 26, affiliates will need to add a Galaxy 17 C-band vertical polarity feed to RF port 3 on the back of the receiver. Once this is completed, affiliates will need to call the RCN NOC at 800-632-3353 to have the receiver remotely re-tuned to the new carrier. This will create an outage of approximately 5 seconds while the receivers re-acquires the new signal.
After conversion is complete, Galaxy 17 horizontal feed going into RF port 4 can be removed from the receiver.
HRTV signal is currently operating with dual illumination on both frequencies and sending out update commands continuously to load the new frequencies into the receiver’s search tables. All PID assignments on the transport will remain the same on the new carrier.
