Trey Young, The American Horseman
An accomplished, relatively new face on the training scene, Trey Young comes to HRTV from the family's 3-Y Ranch in Crawfordville, FL, exhibiting a "natural horsemanship" style that encourages and fosters success for both the rider and horse.
In ‘Trey Young, The American Horseman,” viewers are introduced to Young as he begins training a precocious 2-year-old mare for her first-ever trail ride. In later episodes, Young urges, and patiently guides that same mare through water on her first trail ride.
In other shows, Young takes horses through an obstacle course, consisting of sinkholes, tunnels, and cowboy curtains. Additional episodes feature Trey prepping a young equine protégé on the art of "Cutting." "Team Roping" also comprises a show, as Young and longtime friend, J.D. Elliott, demonstrate legal catches and conclude by "scoring a few steers."

The Weekend Cutter
Hosted by Kenny Emigh, the supporting “cast” includes professional trainers drawn from a prestigious pool of Cutting champions and NCHA Hall of Famers, including Ted Sokol, Rock Hedlund, Zeke Entz, Casey Crouch and Leon Harrell, plus special guests.
Dubbed “America’s first grass roots Cutting Horse television show,” “The Weekend Cutter" isn't designed to showcase its professionals, but instead everyday folks from all walks of life -- nurses, dentists, insurances agents, etc. -- that share a passion for "cutting" and want to improve their skills to compete. They grind away at their jobs on weekdays, they devote weekends to their passion: hitting the road and horseback.
Host Emigh takes the show on the road to visit the practice pens of Weekend Cutter’s champion cutting horse trainers, where they specialize in the success of their non-pro, amateur, and youth clients. See these students take their well-learned lessons into actual competitions.
Cutting is Hot!
Cutting is one of the fastest growing equine sports in the world, originating from cattle ranches in the American West, where it was the cutting horse's job to separate cattle from the herd for vaccinating, branding, and sorting. Eventually competitions arose between the best cutting horses and riders in the area. In 1946, the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) was formed, and is the governing body of the sport.
In 2006, the contestants at the United States NCHA Futurity competed for more than $3.7 million -- more than 100 hundred times the money offering from the first year. Total purses at NCHA-approved shows now exceed $39 million annually.
Length: ½ hour shows
